Aeration and Over-Seeding

This may be the one single thing that is the difference maker in your lawn or turf becoming a thick lush looking lawn or remaining status quo.

We recommend aerating and over-seeding mid-September through November. Why is this time frame the best? Because of the soil temperature, beginning in September the temperature starts to cool off, and we starting receiving heavier dews and more frequent precipitation. The soil transitions from dry type to a moist soil. The temperatures will remain cooler and the soil will remain moist from October through mid May. This gives the root system time to deepen and mature.

Aerating allows oxygen to move throughout the soil. It also keeps the soil from getting overly-compacted. The Mastin Company recommends running the aerator over the lawn in three different directions (vertically, horizontally and diagonal) getting as many cores out of the soil as you can.

We recommend over-seeding immediately after aeration with a premium fescue seed. We use a premium turf seed . The Mastin Company turf has zero weed content and is a very clean high quality seed. Our brand was developed in the south, with the heat and humidity in mind.
